What is Cordate?
Cordate was an app built to make dating spontaneous. After recently getting married, I noticed that going out with my spouse became increasingly more difficult with our hectic lives. In our circle of friends, we noticed the habit of date night crumbles away as couples spend more time together. Arranging a night out becomes something planned on a Google spreadsheet and weeks in advance. With my co-founder, we built an app that is essentially a macro-list for romantics. You are able to set a list of commands to start running when you decide to go out. Cordate will feed you data on local events you can explore, decide the best way of getting there, send automatic messages to those you would want to keep informed, and continuously learn the more times you use it.
Who would you say your target audience consists of?
Cordate was mainly built for couples with schedules that rarely align. Since our app minimizes the amount of time it takes to create a date night, our app’s value would shine for couples in their late 30’s, 40’s, with kids etc. Is Cordate planning the dates or creating the initial date night? Our app is removing the challenges of going out with your spouse. In our market research, we’ve often found that couple’s date night was cancelled because there were too many items to take care off before heading out. Ie: Transportation issues, what events interest both individuals enough to attend, which babysitter to contact, or other conflicting schedules. Date night should be spontaneous, and our app makes it happen!
Where would someone be able to download your app?
Cordate could be downloaded through the App & Google Play Stores.
Does the company name have any special meaning?
Yes! The word ‘cor’ is used to describe excitement and show surprise. We hope that this pushes our app towards the overall message of spontaneous dating. Alternatively, the entire app name is defined as heart-shaped.
What are your goals with this project?
We need an app icon that also function as a logo. Ideally, a design that promotes our app’s features while separating us from similar apps in the same market such as Tinder. We’re loving how easily your app can fit into a couple’s busy day.
Could you give us one more example scenario of how your app would run if was already used a few times before?
Of course! A couple lives in New Zealand. They both love exploring the coastline, but their jobs keep them fairly separated during the day. Once is a freelance product photographer, the other a programmer at a local agency. One morning they find out the agency’s team meeting, so there’s an opportunity to go to work later in the day. With Cordate, they can quickly decide if they want to spend the morning doing something exciting together and quickly get everything arranged. Cordate remembers that they like surfing, so the app will quickly feed them what times would be great to head out in order to catch optimal waves. It lets them know how they should get there depending on the road conditions. Both Google calendars can sync up and alert them if there is a time limit they need to get back home by. For example, if there is a production meeting happening at 4:00PM, Cordate will set an ideal time to start travelling home or provide the contact information in order to shift the schedule.
