What is Karla.io?
Karla is a slack bot that removes the need to visit your email, Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, or Skype to answer messages. With Karla, all of your incoming messages are neatly sorted into different channels within your Slack group. Users can focus on working during their most productive hours, and answer messages from one application that neatly sorts all the information that is being sent to them.
Is Karla aiming to replace tools such as email clients?
No. Karla is smart delivery system. It shows you the messages that were sent to you, and provides you with the option to respond within Slack. Instead of exploring five different websites to learn if you have any new messages, Karla conjugates them for you. If you see one that needs more context to answer, Karla will direct you to the appropriate link to see it in full view.
What is Karla’s target audience for this app?
Karla was built for individuals who want to maximize their day by removing distractions. However, limiting facebook time is different than creating an easier place to discover new messages. Our goal with Karla is to optimize the way you learn about new messages, rather than cut the amount of interactions you have with the people you talk to.
How would someone discover Karla?
Karla.io could be found through avenues such as ProductHunt or the Slack Bot page. What are your goals with designing a new identity for Karla? Karla is an assistant that is always learning based on your work schedule. We’ve really limited ourselves in the past by using a logo that is a stereotypical email icon. First impressions are important, and we want Karla to to have a cleaner visual appearance that captures its value-add to someone’s workday.
Is Karla only going to be available for Slack?
Yes. We aren’t interested in moving Karla.io into a web application or onto another messaging service. For this reason, we’d love to see a logo that shows a potential collaboration with Slack’s visual identity. We wouldn’t Karla to be mistaken for a chatting app, but overlapping colors akin to Slack’s would be a great visual connection.
Karla is a beautiful name, do you interact with the bot as if it was human?
Our app was developed to understand common human expressions, to make the experience of interacting with Karla less frigid. However, the app wasn’t designing with the intention that you would ever hold a conversation with Karla. The bot is marketed as a content delivery service, rather than an artificially learning assistant.
